Register for Start Up! Chicago

Over 100 students have graduated from the course, raving about the practical content, quality of instruction, and networking opportunities. To create an active learning experience, the 10-week program integrates classroom instruction, guest entrepreneurs, in-class exercises, case studies, and business plan assignments. Students learn whether self-employment is appropriate for them, and how to launch a venture regardless of their background and familiarity with business.

About the Instructors

Lincoln Park Instructors

Becky Davenport has provided strategic market planning and business development consulting services for entrepreneurs, early stage companies and not for profit companies for over 10 years. As a partner in The Macke Group, Becky was part of the team responsible for developing and executing the strategic business plan for Wayne State University’s business development project known as TechTown. Becky is currently engaged in the development of a second WSU business incubator scheduled for launch in 2010. Prior to her consulting practice, Ms. Davenport spent 15 years in global account sales and marketing at AT&T in Boston and Detroit. Becky is also an adjunct marketing instructor at Wayne State University, delivering traditional and online marketing courses for undergraduate business and MBA students since 1991. She has been an active member of her community as a board member, trustee and chairperson for several local fundraising events. Becky holds a bachelors degree from the University of Texas and an M.B.A. from the University of Colorado. She currently resides in Chicago, IL with her husband and has two children in college.

Jim Stoynoff is Founder and President of Synthesis Solutions www.synthesissolutions.biz/ a management-advisory practice. Prior to Synthesis he was the founder and CEO of Damian Services Corporation, providing commercial financing and business process outsourcing services. Under his leadership Damian received multiple Anderson Best Practice awards. He was also a finalist in the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award program, and serves as an advisor to several middle-market firms and non-profit organizations.
